Thanks to the Bru Crew!

Hello All,

As many of you know my time as President of the Bookcliff Home Brew Club has come to end. It has been an interesting ebb and flow of emotions and thoughts as the club transitions with its new officers and we say goodbye to the old ones. I woke up on Sunday morning after Bockcliff Day with a comfortable sense of pride for what this community has built and excited to see what some new blood will bring. As the week moved forward it has been hard to not immediately respond to emails or messages on Facebook. With my usual end of the month anxiety that comes with writing the newsletter I find myself a little giddy and excited to see what will be published. Now more than ever I feel like I can sit back and appreciate what has come together and reflect on where it came from.

What started as a small group of teachers in 2014 has grown into a group of over a hundred amazing members from dynamically different experiences and walks of life. With each year our membership grew, our activities grew and most important we grew as brewers and collaborators. Some of you have made new friends, some of you have made best friends, and some of you have even found new careers though the home-brew club. Sadly we have also seen members come and go. But it has been an absolute pleasure getting to know each and every one of you. Every meeting I always wanted to end each speech by thanking you the members for your hard work and efforts and I can’t imagine a better way to end an exit speech.

Thank you for showing up to meetings, without you there the club would feel pretty empty. Thanks for sharing your home-brew and letting us critique, enjoy and motivate us. Thanks for all you did to support the club whether it was by buying a full membership, or volunteering for anything and everything from hot days in dusty parking lots to running posters around town, or helping to pour for a brewery at a local brew fest. Thanks for contributing to and reading the newsletter, I know my editing and writing demands improvement. But most of all, thanks for being a great group of enthusiastic brewers and for your support over the last four years. It has been my pleasure to serve you.
